follow the trend in your program, if nobody else does that, (eg, nobody give
you any gifts), you don't have to.

i am not sure which year you are now, but usually as an intern, you don't
need to, since you probably haven't really built up any real friendship or
relation. and in your second and third year, you can give gifts who you
think you are close to and those people you think truly helped you.

maybe just me, but i always think, don't use christmas gift as a chance for
sucking up, but use it as a chance to show your appreciation.
